Description

Duomo di Faenza is a distinctive white wine that belongs to the 1502 Da Vinci in Romagna Collection from the producer Cantine Leonardo da Vinci, created to honor the journey of discovery through the Romagna region by the genius Leonardo. Each drop of "Duomo di Faenza" is not only a crystallization of the characteristics of the Trebbiano grape variety and the unique terroir of Romagna but also a harmonious blend of history, art, and science.

The Cathedral's Mark on the Duomo di Faenza Wine Bottle

In 1502, during his six-month journey surveying the defense systems and infrastructure for Cesare Borgia in the Romagna region of Italy, Leonardo had the opportunity to visit Faenza, a city renowned for its fertile vineyards. Inspired by this trip, the winemaker Cantine Leonardo da Vinci created the "1502 Da Vinci in Romagna Collection," celebrating Leonardo's exploration of the Romagna territory. Each bottle in this collection features images of significant landmarks that Leonardo visited, meticulously recorded in his travel diary. The white wine "Duomo di Faenza" Trebbiano Romagna DOC is one of the "gems" of this collection. The name "Duomo di Faenza" (Faenza Cathedral) is inspired by Leonardo's sketch of the Cathedral of San Pietro Apostolo – the symbol of the city of Faenza – found in his notebook. This drawing also documents his journey from Cesenatico to Imola, with Faenza as an impressive stopover. "Duomo di Faenza" is made from the Trebbiano grape variety, grown in carefully selected vineyards in Romagna. The grapes are harvested and processed using Metodo Leonardo®, a proprietary winemaking process of Cantine Leonardo da Vinci based on Leonardo da Vinci's own studies of wine.

Flavor Characteristics of Duomo di Faenza

Duomo di Faenza is made from 100% Trebbiano di Romagna grapes, an ancient white grape variety dating back to Roman times. It is the most common grape variety in Romagna, known for its ability to produce white wines with elegant, fresh aromas and balanced acidity. The wine has a pale straw-yellow color, clear and shimmering. The aroma is delicate, releasing gentle notes of peach blossom intertwined with the fresh scent of newly cut grass. The palate is harmonious, balanced between a crisp acidity and a subtle minerality, leaving a pleasant and refreshing aftertaste. Duomo di Faenza is an easy-drinking white wine suitable for a wide range of palates.

Wine and Food Pairing

With its fresh and elegant flavor, Duomo di Faenza is a perfect choice to pair with light dishes, especially seafood:

  • Appetizers: Enjoy Duomo di Faenza as an aperitif to stimulate the palate before a meal.
  • Seafood: Fresh seafood dishes such as oysters, scallops, prawns, and salmon. The wine's light acidity will highlight the fresh flavors of the seafood.
  • Italian Cuisine: Seafood pizza, pasta with cream sauce, risotto. Duomo di Faenza will be a perfect complement to Italian-style dishes.
  • Poultry and White Meats: Grilled chicken, boiled chicken, boiled pork. The wine's light flavor will not overpower the taste of these dishes.
  • Salads: Vegetable salads, fruit salads. The wine's crisp acidity will pair perfectly with the freshness of vegetables and fruits.

To fully appreciate the flavors of Duomo di Faenza, the bottle should be chilled to a temperature of 10-12°C. Pour the wine into a clear, tulip-shaped glass to allow the aromas to develop better.

Duomo di Faenza is not just a bottle of white wine but also a work of art imbued with historical and cultural significance. With its fresh, delicate flavor and special meaning, Duomo di Faenza is the perfect choice for light parties, gatherings with friends, or as a meaningful gift for loved ones.
